About the role
The SQL Developer will actively contribute to the development and maintenance of Dealerweb’s SaaS products as a part of the existing Data team.
Covering the breadth of the UK, and across several European countries, our products are market leaders in the automotive sales space. With our customers asking more and more questions of the data we hold on their behalf, its an opportunity to help refine and collaborate on systems and processes we need to adopt to keep pace with these ever increasing demands.
You will participate in team refinement and planning sessions, whilst actively contributing to our philosophy of continual improvement. You will work on product features, as well as maintaining and optimising our databases ensuring that they are fit for purpose, healthy and highly secure.
Key responsibilities include:
Mentoring junior members of the teamProviding various data extracts from across our portfolio of productsScripting mass data imports and data archivingWriting and refining stored proceduresTesting and modifying databases to ensure that they operate reliablyDesigning maintenance procedures and putting them into operationTweaking and optimising SQL server settings for optimum performancePatching and updating serversWorking with devOps to manage database security/integrity and backup procedures. Establishing robust server monitoring plans and implementing security measures as requiredHelping with database design and development, ensuring databases meet user requirementsLiaising with Developers, Operational staff, IT project managers and other Technical team membersDefining objectives through consultation with staff at all levelsWriting reports, documentation and operating manualsProviding user training, support and feedbackWriting disaster recovery plans
We are looking for:
Experience of working within an environment focused on developing high availability web-services and web based apps in a windows hosted environmentAt least three years of commercial experience as a SQL developerStrong experience managing and maintaining databases and serversStrong T-SQL Experience, including stored procsFamiliar with the use of source control (TFS/GIT)Experience of optimisation techniques to support highly transactional websites.Comfortable working with various versions of SQL databases, from SQL 2008 R2 to 2017An articulate programmer who understands the importance of delivering business value whilst maintaining data quality
