(Remote) Java Software Developer

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Java Software Developer to join our dynamic team. As a Java Software Developer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and support of software solutions for our clients.

This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in Canada and the US. This role requires travel up to 10% of the time, including attending 1-2 Annual General Meetings per year and potentially visiting customer sites. A valid passport or visa is necessary for travel to Canada.

What Your Impact Will Be

Design, develop, and maintain software components across the NorthStar Utilities Solutions product suiteCreate, modify and maintain automated tests for continuous integration testingProvide resolution to defects and investigate and resolve production support incidentsConduct requirement discussions and provide realistic estimations for deliverablesProvide analytical support and technical advice during the conceptualization, development, and implementation phasesConduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-quality, maintainable codeTake ownership of tasks and ensure their timely completionRecommend improvement to development, integration and support practices and processesApply configuration management, version control, software best practices and standardsCreate and maintain technical documentation for integration solutions, including design specifications, user guides, and API documentationProvide transparency on work progress through daily stand-ups, work item status, and time loggingCollaborate with a team of software developers, software quality analysts, and user experience designers

What We Are Looking For

4+ years of professional Java EE software development experience2+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server or similar RDBMSExperience working with web-based APIs, including SOAP and RESTGood verbal and written communication skills in English are a requirement

What Would Make You Stand Out

Experience in Genero or similar language (Informix-4GL) a bonusExperience with Karate or similar API automation testing frameworkExperience with additional programming languages, such as Python, or Typescript/JavaScriptFamiliarity with containerization technologies, such as Docker or KubernetesExperience with cloud-based integration platforms, such as AWS Lambda or Azure FunctionsKnowledge of CI/CD tools such as Bamboo, Git, and Maven
