Hey 👋 I'm Bill – CTO at Pinpoint.
We're a high-growth, bootstrapped HR-tech start-up building and selling software that helps in-house recruitment teams attract, hire, and retain the best talent. Technology is the core of our business. We don't have a business if we don't have a good product (and good people building and maintaining that product). We're looking for senior developers who share our passion for tackling complexity and building simple, beautiful, and scalable software.
We are hiring a Senior Software Developer.
How Do We Work
The team is split into several squads each working on defined projects. These projects are varied giving developers exposure to different parts of the application and the ability to work on different challenges. You will also have the ability to weigh in on decisions and work closely with other developers and designers. We don't split the team into front end and back end so you will be working on the full stack (Ruby on Rails and React).
We do everything we can to allow our development team to focus on building and shipping features which means trying to provide detailed specs and designs (which you will be involved with helping create) and keeping distractions to a minimum, but we are still a small team in a fast growing business, so a successful applicant will have some level of flexibility and enjoy the challenge!
About the Role:
What does success look like for the role?
You'll be doing a great job in the role when the following is true:
You are working within a squad helping to ensure we are shipping features on time, weighing in during the planning, discovery and design phase, and supporting other members of the team with issues and technical decisionsYou are offering your opinion on wider technical decisions that affect the rest of the team, and are able to review the work of more junior developersYou are suggesting improvements to our technology stack, coding standards, and processes as you see fit.
What would make you a great fit for this role
Be good at learning new things in depth, fast. You'll be able to research a topic, then clearly articulate your findings to the rest of the team Care about what you do. In our experience, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn go much beyond simply having experience in something. Plus, it makes work more fun for you and the people around you. Be a good communicator. We find that most of our problems stem from bad communication (both internally and externally), so it's really important to know when to say something and how to say it. You will also occasionally need to speak to clients or third-party partners to get good results.
About You:
3+ years of experience working in Ruby on RailsGood communication and organisational skillsPassion for making an impact on the business
In an ideal world, we want to hire someone with meaningful experience in the following. But a proven track record of being a fast learner and delivering great results beats specific experiences every time in our eyes.
