Overview
Join our Product Experience Group at Avalara to assist in creating and delivering content for developers and technology partners. We are seeking someone who is passionate about technical writing and would like exposure into delivering content specifically for developers.
This internship is structured as a remote opportunity and includes an exciting in-person event during the program for a dynamic and well-rounded experience.
Our 2024 Summer Internship Program will have two sessions, each 12 weeks in duration:
May 20th to August 9th, 2024June 17th to September 24th, 2024
We kindly request that internship participants commit to the full duration of the agreed-upon session.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Developer Documentation, you’ll help create developer content for Avalara products.
As the developer documentation intern, you’ll learn how to use our offerings as both an end-user and as a developer while also learning about the software development process. You’ll work with other writers to help edit API documentation and create code samples, gaining exposure to the OpenAPI spec and REST APIs. You’ll help convert existing documentation from Adobe Experience Manager to Ixiasoft, acquiring DITA skills in the process.
Qualifications
Pursuing BA/BS degree in Technical Writing, Journalism, or Computer Science Excellent writing and editing skills Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills Curious and eager to collaborate with cross-functional partners Provide at least one writing sample
Preferred Qualifications
Anticipated graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025 Be able to learn new technology and new concepts quickly Rudimentary experience with a programming language, such as HTML, Python, JavaScript, or similar Working knowledge of agile project management systems such as Jira Experience using an authoring tool GitLab/GitHub account
Compensation [Hourly]
The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
Colorado: $25.00 - $30.00
Washington: $25.00 - $30.00
California: $25.00 - $30.00
NYC: $25.00 - $30.00
