Senior Web Developer

Clockwork is seeking a talented Senior Web Developer who enjoys delighting clients with right-sized solutions and a passion for helping teams move forward.

Candidates should have significant experience building performant websites and APIs with PHP-based solutions. Extensive work with open-source CMSs such as Craft CMS, WordPress, and Magento is required.

Candidates will be expected to lead and participate in client and team meetings, playing a pivotal role in driving projects to completion. Candidates will also be expected to be a catalyst for team growth through mentoring, sharing insights, and helping to resolve technical challenges.

Candidates must have the following skills or equivalent:

At least 6 years of experience building complex solutions with PHP.At least 4 years of experience building web pages with HTML, CSS, and Javascript.2-4 years of experience building solutions with Craft CMS.2-4 years of experience building solutions with Magento.2-4 years of experience building solutions with frontend frameworks (React, Vue, etc.)Significant experience using Composer to manage dependencies.Significant experience with deployment pipelines.Significant experience building and integrating with RESTful APIs.Ability to understand and create SQL queries across complex data sets.At least 2 years of experience building websites and custom plugins for WordPress.Significant experience with software design patterns, automated testing, pipelines, and thoughtful refactoring.Significant experience debugging complex problems, including problems with caching, authentication, and performance.The ability to deliver clear and maintainable code requiring little re-work.The ability to coach and mentor engineers on your team with empathy and unblock them when they need support overcoming a technical challenge.Strong remote communication skills and an expert at providing proactive status.

Who You'll Work With

You’ll be working on a small, cross-disciplinary team containing other developers, a client strategist, user experience specialists, and product designers. The team follows a Scrum methodology adapted for agency work. You’ll be expected to wear many hats and work directly with multiple clients.
