Backstage Developer

Our client is a leading global Financial Market data provider who runs several change programs to deliver high-quality software that connects Financial Markets across the globe in a real-time, high frequency, and low-latency data management chain. The projects are technically challenging in a very engaging environment making the most of cutting-edge technologies.You will join a team of highly skilled and passionate engineers to build new features and functionalities for developer portals using Backstage. Powered by a centralized software catalog, Backstage restores order to microservices and infrastructure and enables teams to ship high-quality code quickly.This is your chance to work with a small group of motivated, knowledgeable, and passionate individuals to bring new ideas and initiatives to the way that our customer leverages cloud platforms. We work globally and are looking for someone to create new futures and integrate with other internal platforms (including Asana). Responsibilities:

• Participate in the development efforts to create new features and enhance existing functionalities using the Backstage Platform.• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, specifications, and user needs, translating them into clear and scalable solutions.• Design and implement plugins for seamless integration with popular tools and services such as Asana, GitLab, ServiceNow (SNOW), and other relevant platforms.• Ensure the compatibility, reliability, and performance of plugins, adhering to best practices and coding standards.• Spearhead the development of integrations with GitLab, fostering a cohesive and streamlined experience for users interacting with the Backstage Platform in conjunction with GitLab services.• Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, optimizing the overall efficiency of the integrated systems.• Develop robust integrations with various portals, facilitating seamless data exchange and collaboration between Backstage and external platforms.• Create standardized templates for provisioning within these portals, ensuring consistency and efficiency in resource allocation and management.• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to identify and address any potential issues or bugs promptly.• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in the Backstage.• Actively participate in code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of the development process.• Demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and initiative, being proactive in identifying and addressing challenges.• Work effectively with minimal supervision, showcasing the ability to manage tasks independently while maintaining a commitment to quality and deadlines.

Mandatory Skills Description:

• 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience in the industry.• Demonstrated expertise in Typescript programming language.• Proven ability to write clear, maintainable, and efficient code using Typescript.• In-depth understanding of the Backstage Platform architecture and components.• Prior experience in developing and enhancing features within the Backstage framework.• Hands-on experience in designing and implementing plugins for integration with various tools and services, including but not limited to Asana, GitLab, ServiceNow (SNOW), and other relevant platforms.• Experience in developing robust integrations with different portals, enabling seamless data exchange and collaboration between Backstage and external platforms.• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve integration issues promptly, ensuring optimal performance of the integrated systems.• Proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, showcasing independence in managing tasks while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and meeting deadlines.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Knowledge of working with Azure Cloud and/ or AWS.• Experience working in Agile Scrum methodologies.
