ETL Developer

Summary:This position is meant to service custom reporting requests (internal and external) that require direct interaction with database systems. It is not primarily meant for database development, but does require creative application of existing systems, especially via SQL programming and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

Responsibilities:Develops ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processesAutomates processes, and improves their efficiencyData explorationSupports the database infrastructures that underlies analytical toolsWorks on analytics reporting infrastructureObserves proper processes and proceduresContributes to process improvement, proposing and arguing for changes in a collaborative, team-based approachDocuments work and processes and helps train others on work and processes as needed

Education:Bachelor’s Degree in a math, science, or business-related field or an equivalent combination of education, related certifications, and work experience (especially in SQL programming and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)).

Knowledge and Skills:Proficiency in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processesProficiency in line-by-line programming, especially SQL (at minimum, candidates should have certifications or work experience demonstrating familiarity with SQL beyond the level of a casual or side study - any proficiency beyond that is not required, but is a strong plus).Strong logical capability (logical reasoning skills will assist candidates with on-the-job learning, and are more important than SQL experience or certifications).Clear communication in both verbal and written form (candidates will need to collaborate with non-technical partners—typically in American English—in order to identify effective solutions to business needs).Ability to follow instructions carefully.Ability to follow team protocols and manage multiple projects at once.

Experience:At least 3 years in a professional environment (preferred).Any experience in roles requiring SQL programming is a plus.Must have SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) experience, otherwise, as described in position.

Special Requirements/Certifications:None required, but any certifications evidencing programming proficiency (especially SQL) is a plus.Certifications indicating industry knowledge or task management training is also a plus.
