Role DescriptionThis is a part-time remote contractor role for a senior Ruby on Rails full stack developer. Our platform connects to multiple external systems such as device farms (through a Ruby SDK), AWS SageMaker for machine learning endpoints (Python) and other systems. We're looking for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, who likes to learn and who can help with tasks that go beyond just Ruby on Rails when necessary (skills can be learned on the job).
ResponsibilitiesBackend Ruby on Rails development including Action Cable, Active Storage, Active Job, Action Mailer, Action Mailbox, Postgres, RedisFront-end development using Tailwind CSS & HTML5Basic DevOps tasks on Heroku and AWS to deploy and maintain apps (can be learned on the job)Researching, setting up and integrating with other systems such as device farms, OpenAI, our own AI endpoint and more which will involve a bit of non Ruby scriptingWorking with AI and assistive technologies such as screen readers to find and develop new ways of emulating accessibility needs
QualificationsSenior back-end Ruby on Rails web development skillsFront-end development skills, mainly HTML5 (Tailwind CSS can be learned on the job)Strong with best practices and reusable patternsAttention to detail and passion for writing clean, maintainable codeExperience with version control systems, particularly GitExcellent problem solving and critical thinking skillsEager to research, explore and to solve complex problems with Ruby and sometimes non Ruby code (can be learned on the job)Efficient communication in English
