The DNS team owns and operates mission-critical DNS infrastructure and software for the Oracle Cloud. Serving at a scale of billions of queries per second, we operate a world-class DNS network where uptime is critical and impact is far-reaching.
This individual will be a senior member of the DNS team in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Primarily focused on delivering the implementation, testing and operational automation for the DNS Data Plane. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess a wide range of skills and experience. This individual should be proficient at operating in a SaaS, Cloud or Hybrid cloud environment. This individual will also be autonomous and be expected to contribute to a wide range of high-impact projects across the organization. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader.
Responsibilities
Major Duties:
Designs, develops and maintains infrastructure and backend applications in our dev, test and production environmentsHands on software development at scale – Develop code that scales to billions of queries per secondPerform troubleshooting and coordinate problem resolution activities with engineering and support teamsEstablish and maintain productive relationships with peer organizationsExperience with Root cause analysis, monitoring and alarming in all environmentsHelp automate and streamline operations and processes for Tier 0 infrastructure serviceDeep knowledge of Linux internals and performance, and host based networkingManage and build CI and CD tools/pipelines and collaborate within larger developer tools organizationBuild and maintain tools for deployments, security patching and vulnerability management, and change safetyExperience with configuring, managing, and extending infrastructure solutions for growing footprint as part of the large scale environmentDevelop validations for end-to-end system verification and configuration managementDeep understanding of the service, service KPIs and management of the Grafana dashboardsProvide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on operational excellenceGeneral knowledge of the following categories of network systems: Multiprocessing, Threading, Distributed systems, Load Balancing and High AvailabilityWork closely with both internal and external software development resources as well as IT/network operations and the users of our solutionsStrong communication skills, excellent troubleshooting skills with sense of ownership and driving to completion
Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to deliver the items listed in the major duties' section implementing cloud solutionsAt least 6 years of operations engineering experience in SaaS Cloud or Hybrid Cloud Environments6+ years managing large scale, highly distributed, services infrastructuresAt least 3 years of experience with Linux operating systemsExperience with CI/CD tools Jenkins, Teamcity, Bitbucket, GitExperience managing host virtualization technologies (Containers, Docker, etc.)Experience with configuration management systems, such as Chef, AnsibleExperience with cloud orchestration tools, such as TerraformExperience with scripting languages like Python and BashFamiliarity with core protocols (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, TCP)Familiarity with coding in GO is a plusExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and within groupsShould be a flexible, resourceful, team player that is able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environmentCreative thinking, troubleshooting and critical analysis are essential
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent in work experience and self-study.Advanced degree is a plus

Hiring Range: from $94,200 - $223,500 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
