Oculus Studios Developer Experience is focused on creating a well supported and reliable end-to-end developer experience for our first party Oculus Studios (Armature Studios, Beat Games, BigBox VR, Camouflaj, Downpour Interactive, Ready At Dawn Studios, Sanzaru Games, Twisted Pixel, Supernatural, Ouru).Within OSDE, our goal is to help studios speed up their ability to create amazing content. This is done across multiple areas of the development livecycle: i.e. source control, code review, build, engine integrations, etc. We collaborate to build shared systems and solutions to satisfy all 10 of our studios’ developer needs. Working with partners inside and outside of Meta, we assist in migrating and onboarding our recently acquired studios with common Meta supported solutions.
Software Engineer - Oculus Studios Developer Experience Responsibilities:
Help define and establish Meta's end-to-end development infrastructure approach for game studios - working across multi-year effortFind common needs by working across the first party studios, collecting requirements and proposing solutions to gain buy-in. Quickly iterate, prototype, and pilot these solutions, and creating standards for common problem spaces.Build custom solutions that align with Metaverse development (e.g. VR, IOS, Android, Web) that developers can use to support and create new contentWork as a full-stack developer and gain familiarity in multiple coding languages as needed: e.g. CPP, C#, Python, Hack, JavaScript, ReactBe or become familiar with multiple game engines: i.e. Unity, Unreal, proprietary engineBe or become familiar with multiple Source Control Solutions (i.e. Perforce, Swarm, Github, Assembla, PlasticSCM, Mercurial)Be or become familiar with multiple Build Solutions (i.e. Jenkins, TeamCity, Internal Custom)Be or become familiar with multiple Cloud Solutions (i.e. AWS)Gain familiarity of alternate hosting environments (i.e. cloud/corporate/lab) and help determine where and how they should be usedHelp onboard new game studios engineers to Meta infra and internal tools, while bringing empathy for game development back to core Meta teamsPartner with other teams within Meta to figure out best approaches to migrate game studio developer flows and services while bringing the Meta focuses of reliability, scalability, security to the game studio spaceSupport game studios during break/fix scenarios and be part of the escalation path Assist game studios in building, scaling, and optimizing new features for their existing/future development flows.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in learning new approaches, coding languages, and Meta specific solutions5+ years of experience in developing developer services for games and/or enterprise (large scale distributed environments)Experienced with C/C++ or CBroad knowledge of games and game development and/or enterprise scale infrastructureExperienced with Python and / or PowerShellExperienced collaborating with team members across multiple disciplines to bring products to life
Preferred Qualifications:
