BCI has the following 9 month contract role open with our direct client located in Jersey City, NJ. This role can be 100% remote. Can work on a w2 or 1099 basis. No C2C or subcontractors. Potential contract to hire in the future.
Details:The Python Developer is responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users. Primary focus is the development of all server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. They are also responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by other developers into the application; therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well. *Will be involved in rewriting an API developed in Ruby and PHP to search various DB's. New system will be written all in Python.

Skills and Knowledge•Experience in Python, with knowledge of one or more Python framework (Django, Flask, Kivy, PyQt, PyGUI, libavg, wxPython)•Main skills needed: Python (strong), PHP (good understanding), Agile, JavaScript, DB programming and some AWS knowledge. Bash / Perl Scripting and Linux exp is needed. Experience with either ElasticSearch or OpenSearch. Ruby exp is a plus but not required. •Familiarity with some ORM (Object Relational Mapper) libraries•Experience administering application servers, web servers, and databases (Tomcat, Websphere, Nginx, Microsoft IIS, Oracle, MySQL, etc.)•Understanding of the threading limitations of Python, and multi-process architecture•Good understanding of server-side templating languages (Jinja 2, Mako, etc)•Basic understanding of front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3)•Understanding of accessibility and security compliance•Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments•Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application•Familiarity with event-driven programming in Python•Experience developing integration using product APIs.•Understanding of the differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform•Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes•Strong unit test and debugging skills•Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git, Mercurial or SVN)
