We are seeking an experienced Atlassian Confluence/Jira Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our Atlassian Jira and Confluence tools, within an Atlassian Data Center instance. Your expertise in Atlassian administration, scripting, and software development will be critical in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our IT processes.

This position requires work in support of the Company’s contract with the United States Department of Education (“ED”). As such, the United States Government requires that any applicant for this position must complete United States Government security clearance. Effective June 1, 2018, ED has informed Nelnet that security clearance applications for foreign nationals are not being accepted or processed. In light of this direction from ED, Nelnet will be unable to hire applicants without United States citizenship for such positions.

As an Atlassian Confluence/Jira Developer, a typical day might include:

Manage and support Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence, Crowd) within a Data Center environment. Configure and optimize these tools to meet the organization's needs.Develop and maintain custom integrations for Jira and Confluence to extend their base functionality. Utilize scripting languages such as Groovy, JavaScript, Python, or others as needed.Build custom solutions, integrations, and automation workflows within Jira Software. Develop and maintain scripts for use with Atlassian Add-ons.Utilize and extend REST API for Jira and Confluence to enhance system capabilities.Write and maintain scripts in scripting languages such as Groovy, Scriptrunner and Powershell for various IT tasks.Customize Jira and Confluence beyond their out-of-the-box features. Design and implement workflows, dashboards, Kanban, and Scrum Boards.Provide clear and concise verbal and written communication tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand existing IT processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures.Document, measure and improve system/software lifecycles to meet business objectives across a variety of programs.Interpret contractual/regulatory documentation (e.g. NIST, FSA Contract, RFPs etc.) to identify gaps in our lifecycles, policies and procedures.Perform value stream mapping exercises for all processes owned within NDS IT for the purpose of streamlining and eliminating waste.Provide training and guidance to IT staff on proper process execution, ensuring a clear understanding of expectations.Collaborate with the IT team to implement changes and improvements to processes and drive their successful adoption.Present process improvements to leadership through clear and concise reports, presentations, and visualizations.Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to continuously enhance our process adherence strategies.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree and/or commensurate experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Expertise using GitlabExpertise developing using Groovy and Bash scripting.Practical scripting skills, e.g. Scriptrunner, Powershell, Groovy scriptExperience in setting up and supporting Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence, Crowd). Ability to automate and extend base Jira/Confluence functionality.Experience in setting up and supporting Jira in a data center environment.Experience automating and extending base Jira functionality in a data center environment.Experience using/extending REST API for Jira and ConfluenceKnowledge of a software development lifecycle with exposure to Agile.Ability to design and implement workflows, dashboards, Kanban and/or Scrum BoardsExperience working across multiple functional areas to achieve a common business purpose.Experience in working in a collaborative, team-based environment.Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle with exposure to Agile or other iterative approaches to delivery preferred.Ability to design and implement workflows, dashboards, Kanban and/or Scrum BoardsCMMI knowledge is a plus.Certifications such as ITIL, Six Sigma, or equivalent are a plus.Knowledge in the area of NIST compliance is a plus.Experience in setting up and supporting Confluence in a data center environment is a plus.Experience automating and extending base Confluence functionality in a data center environment is a plus.

Pay range for this role is $70,000-$110,000 annually, depending on experience.
