GIS Developer

Overview:We are seeking a talented GIS Developer to join our team and contribute to the development of a cutting-edge fly fishing app. As a GIS Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing spatial data solutions that enhance the user experience of our app, providing valuable insights for the broader angling community. Having a background in fly fishing or fishing in general is a bonus.

Key Objectives:1.Spatial Data Integration:Integrate and manage spatial data from various sources, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and optimal performance.Develop and implement data structures that facilitate efficient spatial queries and analyses.2.Geospatial Analysis:Conduct geospatial analysis to derive meaningful insights for enhancing the functionality and user experience of the application.Implement algorithms for route optimization, location-based recommendations, and other geospatial features.3.Map Rendering and Visualization:Develop and optimize map rendering functionalities for the app, ensuring smooth and responsive mapping experiences.Implement visually appealing and user-friendly map visualizations for simpler user viewing/interaction.4.Application Development:Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as mobile/web engineers to facilitate spatial data into the codebase (this role does not have to touch the code in the application itself necessarily, but an engineer with JS/react/react native experience is a bonus).Develop and maintain APIs for seamless integration with other systems and third-party data sources.5.Quality Assurance and Testing:Conduct thorough testing of GIS functionalities to identify and resolve any spatial data-related issues.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, or related field.Proven experience in GIS development and spatial data management.Proficiency in GIS tools and technologies, such as QGIS, ArcGIS, or similar.Some programming skills in languages like Python, JavaScript, or React/React Native.Experience with spatial databases (PostGIS, MySQL, Postgres, etc.).

Benefits:This is a contract based, part time position to start (0.25 - 0.5 FTE)$15-$30/hour starting point with opportunity to scale up as the company growsFlexible working hours and remote environment
