Senior Laravel PHP Developer

We are a growing genetic testing company based in Melbourne, Australia, looking for a Senior Developer to join our team of 15 people. As the third developer and reporting directly to the Head of Technology, you'll be responsible for updating our in-house patient management system, improving our user-facing portal, and integrating with partner platforms such as Shopify, Zendesk, Acuity Scheduling, GSuite, and StarShipIt. Impact

As a Senior Developer at Eugene, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. You'll be able to automate manual processes, improve customer experiences, and leverage our unique, world-leading data on gene variations and real-world symptoms (known as phenotypes). This role is critical to advancing our mission of empowering people with seamless and actionable healthcare.

Responsibilities

As our Senior Developer, you'll be responsible for:

Developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining our in-house patient management system, ensuring the highest standards of quality, performance, and security are maintainedIntegrating with partner platforms such as Shopify, Hubspot, Zendesk, Acuity Scheduling, GSuite, and StarShipItEstablishing technology based connections with healthcare providers such as laboratories and doctorsContinuously monitoring and improving application performance, scalability, and securityStaying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in application development and AI and sharing knowledge with the teamUpdating and maintaining our user-facing onboarding portalCollaborating closely with the Head of Technology, Head of Product, Designer, Genetic Counselors, and Growth team to deliver high-quality products in a timely fashionConducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in web application development, with a focus on modern Laravel PHP developmentExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersStrong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions to complex problemsYou are motivated and thrive when given autonomy to executeAre interested in building products at a fascinating intersection of: Health: in a fast advancing medical/scientific field with growing importance to long term health Technology: in a changing cultural landscape of how we learn, communicate, connect and empathise as humans Social impact: in a company that is committed to doing well by doing good
