Senior Front End Developer

We are a small, dynamic product and services company based in Bristol, UK. We have a focus on the defence and security sectors and actively seek and enjoy delivering innovative and engaging outcomes. We have the in house skills to design and build mechanical and software products and when required integrate these into customer platforms and systems.

Why we're hiring:We are looking for a Senior Front End Developer to produce innovative and scalable software solutions within our small development team.

You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that’s responsible for the design of new products with your focus on the development life cycle, from conception to deployment.

You should be comfortable around Javascript, HTML, CSS/SCSS, Typescript and React. You should also be a team player with an intuition for good design and utility.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of four years’ recent experience.Work with our engineering teams and product managers to ideate software solutionsDesign, build and maintain efficient, useable, and reliable front-end applicationsDevelop product features with minimal supervisionDesign client-side architectureTurn wireframes into interative prototypesTurn prototypes into production ready codeBuild the front-end of applications through appealing visual designTest software to ensure responsiveness and efficiencyTroubleshoot, debug and upgrade softwareBuild features and applications with a mobile responsive designWork with Engineering and Capability Delivery to improve software

The Person:Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervisionTake pride in producing and maintaining work to a high standardBe a creative thinker able to recognise and solve problems by thinking outside the boxWillingness to adopt new techniques and technologies and stay up to date with industry best practicesUnderstanding of Agile methodologiesMinimum of four years’ recent experience with all of the skills below.

What skills and experience will you need?Proven experience as a Front End DeveloperExperience of being part of a development teamExperience of developing desktop and mobile applicationsExcellent HTML/CSS skillStrong Javascript and Typescript knowledgeExperience with ReactExperience with Node.js would be beneficialExperience of container orchestration (we use Kubernetes and Docker)Strong sense of web design and an understanding of UX best practices, cross-platform compatibliity, responsive design principlesExposure to test driven development and integration testingExperience working with GitExperience working with development team tools (e.g. we use Azure DevOps)Eagerness to work in a collaborative environment, including teaching and learning from teammatesExcellent communication and teamwork skillsGreat attention to detailAn analytical, inquisitive mind
