API Developer - Remote (PST Hours)
Position Overview: We are on the lookout for an adept API Developer with a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in core claims processing systems. The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in addressing and solving the challenges associated with interfaces and APIs within our health plan's operations.What You Will Do:Develop and Innovate: Apply software engineering best practices to design and build custom APIs and interfaces. These developments will facilitate critical processes such as claims processing, utilization management, and authorizations, ensuring our systems communicate seamlessly and efficiently.Troubleshoot and Optimize: Identify and analyze current challenges or inefficiencies with existing interfaces and APIs, including issues with data flow/communication and inaccuracies in API call results. Your expertise will be crucial in diagnosing and resolving these issues, enhancing system performance and reliability.Strategic Recommendations: Offer well-considered recommendations for remediation or enhancements to key stakeholders, translating complex technical problems into actionable solutions that drive organizational improvement.Bridge Business and Technology: Act as a key liaison between business units and technical teams, translating business needs into precise technical requirements and development plans.Collaborate and Communicate: Engage with multiple business units to ensure swift and effective resolution of identified API challenges. Maintain open lines of communication with the management team and project sponsors, providing regular updates on progress and developments.Ensure Quality Implementation: Collaborate closely with implementation and QA teams post-development to guarantee a smooth and efficient roll-out of new or updated APIs and interfaces.Qualifications for Success:Proven Experience: At least 3 years of experience in API development within a healthcare payer (e.g., health insurance) environment, showcasing your ability to navigate the specific challenges of this sector.Technical Proficiency: Solid experience in creating REST APIs, working with JSON, managing data retrieval and submission to APIs, and XML Parsing.Communication Excellence: Outstanding communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Agile Methodology: Previous experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks, demonstrating your adaptability and commitment to iterative, team-based development.Preferred Systems Knowledge: Experience with JIVA and/or QNXT is highly desirable, indicating your familiarity with key platforms used within the industry.Leadership Skills:As this is a Lead position, we are looking for someone who not only excels technically but also shines in their leadership abilities.
