Position SummaryRekor Systems is driven to provide faster, real-time roadway intelligence to enable informed decisions with greater outcomes. We are hiring a talented Senior Software Engineer with strong frontend web development abilities. The candidate will join a software development team working on a new web application/platform and may also contribute to maintenance of legacy applications.

Role and ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with a cross-functional team to develop customer-facing products that emphasize a great user experienceIdentify and resolve or mitigate bottlenecks and bugs in the systemTranslate end-user requirements and/or user stories into functional applicationsResearch and help establish best practices, such as for utilizing automated testing frameworksMonitor everyday activities of the system and provide required supportContribute to authoring user-facing and internal documentationRemain current on relevant technologies and new industry trends

Qualifications5+ years professional software engineering experienceAbility to apply comprehensive foundational knowledge of frontend web development and Object-Oriented Programming toward maintaining and enhancing complex and diverse software systemsExperience developing commercial or enterprise level products with a frontend web development framework like Vue.jsAbility and willingness to learn and apply new frontend web development frameworksExperience and comfort with a strongly typed, object-oriented language like Java, C#, or TypeScriptAbility to engage deeply in analysis, design and testingUnderstanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, HTTPS and web sockets, and network programming techniquesUnderstanding of distributed, asynchronous, and concurrent programming principles and techniquesExperience in building secure applications using modern security principlesKnowledge of RESTful web servicesUnderstanding of and ability to implement various design and architectural patternsAbility to clearly and thoroughly document software requirements, user stories and use casesExcellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detailExcellent team-working and communication skills for interfacing with clients, fellow developers, and other departmentsEnthusiasm for sharing knowledge with teammates, to help them grow and learnAbility to function in a dynamic startup environment and prioritize work appropriately

Preferred Knowledge, SKILLS, and EducationFour-year degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience4+ years of frontend development experienceProficiency with Vue.js and TypescriptNuxt experienceDjango experienceFamiliarity with CI/CD and NxFamiliarity with UX, web design, Figma and StorybookAbility to effectively communicate and document with UMLUnderstanding of source control workflows and tools like gitExperience with modern tools like Shortcut and Jira for tracking bugs and enhancementsCloud computing experience with AWSExperience with Agile processes and techniquesTask estimation experienceExposure to backend development and interest in growing additional skills in this area
