Introduction Clear Skies Software is the leading software supplier to crematoriums and cemeteries across the UK and Ireland. Its core product is BACAS (Burials and Cremation Administrative System). We are looking for a software developer to join the team and work on the migration of the core solution from MS Access to .NET Blazor. You will be joining a software development team of 4 supported by a further 20 software developers in Agile Applications Group (parent company). Role & Responsibilities Software Development 60% Ensure technical quality of developed software. Ensure ongoing improvement in code quality metrics. Ensure common and reusable solutions are developed wherever possible. Ensure solutions meet the appropriate security standards. Propose and implement enhancements to the development process including introduction of productivity tools where appropriate. Actively research and maintain a thorough understanding of both current and planned legislative change. Perform code reviews ensuring that quality standards are maintained or improved. Review of deliveries to ensure quality and functional adherence before deployment and acceptance testing. Ensure application architecture documentation is maintained. Actively maintain awareness of technology directions to contribute to product strategy. Ensure that source code is checked into source control repositories in a timely fashion. Technical Documentation 10% Produce technical designs and specifications for software developed. Include inline comments in source code and ensure that any designated design patterns are followed. Update release notes, installation and configuration notes and documentation relating to code changes and functionality made – where applicable. Software & System Support 30% Assist with the investigation and resolution of ad-hoc issues as required. Provide technical guidance on issues and solutions related to the product. Experience required: Essential Knowledge of programming languages, primarily C# Knowledge of .NET Core framework, Blazor and Web API SQL Server. Complex SQL (sometimes required). Experience delivering cloud-based solutions. Distributed service orientated architectures using web services designs such as SOAP, JSON, REST, etc. Understanding of modern accessibility standards. Able to easily pick up and follow required design guidelines for a development project. These may differ between applications and product releases. Be aware of common industry standards and coding best-practices within your disciplines and apply them as required. Hands on HTML 5. Good written and verbal communication skills. Good interpersonal skills, able to interact and collaborate effectively, to support colleagues and to deal with customers. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks simultaneously. Good keyboard skills and demonstrated proficiency with word processing, databases and spreadsheet packages. Able to deliver to deadlines and under sudden pressure, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Able to work independently, but with flexibility, and remain part of the team. Able to demonstrate well developed coping strategies. Desirable Experience of working in legacy environments MS Access in particular
