As the Head of Developer Engagement – Digital App Innovation, you will lead our business strategy for engaging developers, influencing a developer-centric product strategy, and driving thought leadership for the developer audience. You will report to the General Manager of GTM & Business Strategy for the Digital App Innovation Cloud Solution Area. This is an individual contributor leadership role, which might, over time, be converted into a manager role.

Responsibilities

As the Head of Developer Engagement – Digital App Innovation, you will:

Design and implement a unified strategy for engaging developers on a global scale.Implement a common developer engagement framework to measure the impact of both scale and depth motions. The framework should unify developer engagement efforts across Microsoft.Maintain a clear point of view on the landscape for winning the hearts and minds of developer communities. Chart a strategic path forward.Design and support developer events (hackathons, etc.) – bill of materials, program governance, financial model, funding sources.Educate field teams and partners to empower their customers to drive strategic developer engagement programs.Influence the product strategy to serve the needs of the Developer persona. This includes a large portfolio of developer products - integrated developer environments (IDEs), No Code tooling, Dev Ops tooling (GitHub & ADO), and open source.Provide developer-centric thought leadership.Build an effective social networking presence.Present at developer-centric events.Drive thought leadership across written mediums including blogs, books, and white papers. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years experience in business consulting, sales, sales operations, information technology (IT), account management, business development, marketing, IT field sales, or a related fieldOR equivalent experience.6+ years experience in in Near Term Strategy (2 years out), Management Consulting, Sales, or Finance

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of experience in software development, developer marketing, developer evangelism, and/or sales & sales engineering.Certifications in the following technologies: cloud, application development, DevOps, platform engineering, cloud-native application architectureBest-of-breed developer tool chain expertise (GitHub, VS Code, Kubernetes)Social media influence and reachAbility to address Developer AudiencesSkilled at developing strategic plans for the business based on analysis and field feedback with a history of executing complex projects with measurable outcomes.Ability to understand, empathize, and enjoy engaging developers and you know what works, what inspires, and what empowers developers.A collaborator and proactively work across organizational boundaries to build trust and drive outcomes.Demonstrates exceptional ability to navigate and overcome obstacles, employing innovative strategies to engage and cultivate developer communities effectively.Embraces risk-taking, endorses the philosophy of failing fast and learning iteratively, and excels in inspiring and leading others through the entrepreneurial journey.Effective internal and external communication skills with a skill to organize information, simplify the complex, and construct narratives that compel action.

Sales Strategy Enablement IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $242,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $264,000 per year.
