OverviewWe are seeking a Software Developer IV to focus on implementing and optimizing WordPress solutions, delivering technical solutions aligned with the roadmap's goals, emphasizing Content Delivery Network (CDN) deployment, performance enhancement, customer experience, and tool development. In this opportunity, you will report to the VP of Software Development, and closely collaborate with the Chief Marketing Officer and Product Owner as well as other team members. This opportunity offers an amazing remote environment, competitive pay, and growth opportunities at a company with over 25 years of experience building on the web.ResponsibilitiesTechnical Implementation and Collaboration: Collaborate with the Project Manager to understand and implement the technical aspects of the WordPress roadmap.Work closely with the marketing team to align technical solutions with our business strategies, particularly with CDN solutions, auto-scaling, packaging, pricing structures, and customer experience improvements.WordPress Infrastructure Enhancement:Develop and optimize WordPress hosting solutions, focusing on global CDN deployment, edge computing, and performance improvements.Address issues related to stability (e.g., Ceph usage), database performance (e.g., MySQL optimization), and site speed.Tool Development and Optimization:Create and refine tools for site acceleration, error reporting, diagnostics, backups, and security.Develop solutions to enhance the DreamHost SSO reliability and staging environment capabilities for WordPress.Technical Expertise in WordPress Ecosystem:Provide expertise in WordPress-related technologies, including WooCommerce, plugin/theme development, and site builders.Stay updated with the latest WordPress trends and technologies, and apply this knowledge to enhance the WordPress experience for customers and developers.Collaborative Problem-Solving:Work with cross-functional teams to solve technical problems and improve the WordPress hosting environment.Contribute to the development of strategies to attract agencies and developers, focusing on WordPress site management and maintenance.RequirementsHaving 10+ years of experience and engineering and developing scalable software solutions for large-scale international projectsProfound expertise in WordPress development and architecture.Experience with CDN technologies and strategies, specifically for global scalability.Deep understanding of cloud technologies, auto-scaling solutions, and web server technologies (e.g., NGINX).Strong background in database management and optimization, particularly MySQL.Familiarity with Ceph for data storage and stability solutions.Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.Strong problem-solving abilities and a hands-on approach to technical challenges.As a plusExperience in developing tools for WordPress performance optimization.Knowledge of WordPress security practices and diagnostic tools.Understanding of PHP settings and WordPress auto-update mechanisms.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.DreamHost provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation and training.
