An opportunity to play your part – Playing a pinnacle part within British Gas Services and Solutions Team, your core role involves developing and managing front-end code using Next.js and TypeScript. Operating in an agile setup, you'll conduct code reviews, write tests, and optimise existing features. Beyond this, you'll assist in new projects, contribute to coding standards, and provide guidance to junior colleagues. Additional duties include supporting new initiatives, shaping coding standards, and mentoring junior team members.

The day to day –
Assist in solution architecting and breaking down complex tasks.Participate in refining and scoping upcoming sprint work.Conduct spikes/investigations into innovative technologies for future project viability.Accountable for timely delivery of assigned tickets.Ensure teammates' work meets code quality standards through reviews.Ensure contributions to releases are performant and issue-free.Collaborate with stakeholders from other teams, particularly product, to address issues and new developments.Coordinate with other business teams for integrations, ensuring alignment of teams and APIs.Work with the Service Management team to investigate and resolve customer issues.Mentor junior team members, providing assistance with tasks and problem-solving.
About You –
Proficiency in object-oriented language, design patterns, and multi-threaded development.Familiarity with ReactJS and at least one other JavaScript framework.Knowledge of TypeScript.Experience with Git or other Distributed Version Control Systems (DVCSs).Familiarity with test frameworks like Jest and Cypress.Background in working within an agile/SCRUM environment.Experience in designing robust and highly scalable systems.
