Senior Back End Developer (SF)

Job Description:We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our Engineering team in San Francisco, Austin, or Toronto, and help us build functional software and web-based applications. Backend Developer responsibilities include creating back-end solutions, building efficient gems & APIs and integrating front-end components. If you’re interested in both getting your hands dirty with writing code from scratch and reviewing other people’s work, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you will contribute in all phases of the software development life cycle, from design to deployment.

Responsibilities:Write high quality, effective and scalable codeBuild back-end components for web applicationsTest applications for performance, responsiveness and securityReview and debug codeIntegrate data storage and data processing solutionsBuild, install and share gems and pluginsCreate automated test scriptsImprove and maintain applications after deploymentCoordinate with team members who work on different layers of infrastructure

Requirements:5+ years work experience as a Software Engineer primarily focused on BackEnd projectsBSc in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant fieldIn-depth understanding of object-oriented programmingA strong understanding and experience with Ruby/ Ruby on RailsExperience building highly scalable systemsUnderstanding of agile software developmentFamiliarity with automated testing platformsProblem-solving skillsTeam spiritHands-on experience writing command-line apps using Ruby libraries, preferred but not requiredPrevious experience developing GraphQL APIs, preferred but not requiredExpertise in Rails, preferred but not requiredAWS working knowledge, preferred but not required
