Application Developer

Background A market-leading healthcare software company is seeking a proven, highly talented individual to join the software development and operations effort for a new SaaS and Linux application that is targeted at a specific segment of healthcare providers. Since this application provides medical services, software and operating system reliability along with hardware availability and stability are paramount. Therefore, the company is seeking someone who has an extraordinary record in SaaS application code development. Additionally, the candidate must be able to create and use unit and system tests in a continuous integration and live testing environment as well as develop high quality software. The Software Developer should be comfortable with software development in an agile development environment. In a perfect world, this person will have demonstrated success in delivering SaaS and Linux products to the healthcare marketplace. However, this is not an absolute requirement. Position Description The Software Developer will handle the development goals (capturing user needs, developing software, iterative testing, QA, and deployment of code). The Software Developer will be responsible for maintaining daily continuous integration builds and system tests, creating new unit and integration tests and development duties. The Software Developer will also be responsible for communicating the company’s development strategy to other developers and management. Specific Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities - Development • Coordinate and Manage code release process.• Designing of test cases/code for bugs that are identified.• Review of software test cases/code and checking of the test cases.• Performance and functionality testing of software.• Manage continuous integration and daily build / system testing software and processes.• Reporting defects and problems that occur.• Using a tracking system to track reported problems with application / system.• Preparation of software test evaluation reports. Additional Responsibilities • Assisting personnel of other company departments as a computer resource.• Facilitate effective team interaction.• Interaction with clients to investigate bug reports.• Interaction with managed services providers to support the operations environment. Job QualificationsThe Software Developer needs to be a leading-edge technologist who understands and appreciates the needs of enterprise class SaaS development. Technical Understanding • Experience in software development, preferably in the medical field.• Proficiency in CSS, Linux, PHP, MySQL required.• Proficiency in Jquery, Json, Ajax, and REST techniques preferred.• Proficiency in Node.js, Erlang, C++, gcc, VMware, RabbitMQ, JIRA, and Confluence is highly recommended.• Some security knowledge (intrusion detection, log files, firewalls).• Experience in development and management of medical software.• Knowledge of ISO 9001 Documentation and FDA 510(k) and HIPAA preferred. Job Skills and Specifications • Knowledge of modern test and agile methodologies.• Good analytical skills.• Knowledge of the software lifecycle development processes.• Proven problem solving skills.• Knowledge and skills and in the use of technologies for detecting and tracking defects.• Knowledge in concepts of databases.• Knowledge of software coding practices according to established company standards.• Understanding and knowledge of QA processes and methods used in software development.• Experience of, knowledge in, and passion for Web-based technologies.• Experience with the interpretation of specifications and requirements documents.• A good understanding of development tools, platforms, and development methodologies.• Experience with traditional as well as agile software development methodologies.• Experience with cloud and virtual computing environments. Educational Background • Bachelor’s degree in IT related discipline.
