Shopify Developer / Full Stack Developer

At Birl we rely on our dynamic team to solve the many challenges and puzzles that come with our rapidly evolving technical stack. We’re seeking a full-stack engineer who is ready to work with new technologies and architectures in a forward-thinking organisation that’s always pushing boundaries.

Here, you will take complete, end-to-end ownership of technical projects across the entire stack. Our ideal candidate has experience building products across the stack and a firm understanding of web frameworks, APIs, databases, and multiple back-end languages. You’ll be working closely with the founders pushing the forefront of new technology, solving the challenges that impact both the front-end and back-end architecture, and ultimately, delivering amazing global user experiences for retail/eCommerce brands.

Role overview:

Work across the full stack, building highly scalable integrations into leading e-commerce storefronts (Shopify, Big Commerce, Adobe Commerce) that enable positive user experiences and measurable business growthWork primarily in Node js, React, and JavaScriptDevelop new features and infrastructure development in support of rapidly emerging business and project requirements Assume leadership of new projects from conceptualization to deploymentEnsure application performance, scale, and maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful application designWork with agile development methodologies, adhering to best practices and pursuing continued learning opportunitiesParticipate in all aspects of agile software development including design, implementation, and deploymentArchitect and guide building end-to-end systems optimised for speed and scaleEngage with the wider team (designers etc) to create reliable APIs

Credentials & experience

Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar roleExperience developing custom Shopify themes and appsExperience of working in eCommerce space, or digital agency experience is a huge plusKnowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery)Experience in working with Shopify’s REST, Graphql APIs (Both storefront and admin APIs)Experience in building scalable APIsExperience in either Node or Ruby on rails and JavaScript frameworks ReactjsFamiliarity with databases (e.g. MongoDB, Pg, MySQL)Excellent communication and teamwork skillsGreat attention to detailOrganisational skillsAn analytical mindDegree in Computer Science, Statistics or relevant fieldSolid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions. Excellent timemanagement, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills
