Position Title: Senior/Lead Backend Developer (Python Django)

Work Location: Full-Time Contract, Remote (Preference for East Coast, U.S. based candidates)

Position Summary:Nephos is in search of a Lead Backend Developer to expand our team of committed technologists and innovators. We need a leader with not only a solid technical understanding of software engineering but also a knack for problem-solving, the ability to learn quickly, excellent communication skills, and a passion for designing, developing, and architecting impactful and delightful products.

The successful candidate will possess a keen eye for driving, designing, creating, and maintaining the components of various backend platforms we work with, including our flagship cloud-based servicing tools. If you take pride in designing scalable, usable, and performant web applications and can convert complex workflows into elegant solutions, we want you on our team!

Main Duties:As a Lead Backend Developer, you will be responsible for several initiatives, including the integration of services with emerging frameworks and platforms. You'll work with overseas teams, providing technical solutions that are scalable, secure, and easy to maintain, interacting with several other services. Working with complex data models, external-facing APIs, and processing high volumes of data consumed by various backend services, you will pave the way for a unique cloud-based servicing product. Understanding of AWS, GCP, and Microsoft Azure, is a plus, but it's not a prerequisite.

Your Role:

Managing day-to-day operations for our overseas Backend Development team, proactively identifying and eliminating bottlenecks to maintain smooth progress in development activities.Leveraging your experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, and Azure, to write multiple concurrent backend and server-side tickets to assist in driving strategic roadmapping initiatives.Tackling complex technological challenges and leading the team towards the successful delivery of robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions.Continuously analyzing and refining processes, utilizing cloud services to enhance product quality, streamline efficiency, and optimize workflow.Ensuring the longevity of software quality by focusing on scalability and maintainability, and foreseeing future tech trends and potential hurdles.Fostering an environment of excellence by implementing and encouraging adherence to software development best practices, particularly around code structure, automated testing, and comprehensive documentation.Providing dependable support for developed code, assisting in the technical resolution of issues on mission-critical production and development systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.

What You’ll Bring:Experience leading software developers or development teamsAble to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersAbility to work well individually and collaborativelyExperience developing software with backend languages/frameworks such as Python, Flask, Django, Node, specifically in building and supporting RESTful APIs using Django and Django REST FrameworkExtensive understanding of web application best practices and Git development flowKnowledge of relational databases such as PostgresUnderstanding of the full stack of the application and experience with HTML/CSS/JSUnderstanding of cloud services such as AWS, GCP, AzureExcellent communicator who is passionate about quality, supportability, extensibility, and scalable application design
