Location: no preference; remote is okayDuration: 6-12 monthsMust work EST hours Role description: We're looking for a dedicated resource to join our team as an Ansible developer. This resource should be able to drive a project from start to finish, from gathering requirements, drawing up a functional design, developing and testing the playbook, working with stakeholders to validate, and monitor/maintain the project over time.We have an existing resource who can assist with design, troubleshooting, and peer review, but the goal is for this resource to be fairly autonomous and able to run on their own after they get comfortable with our environment.As the platform owner, I can assist in helping manage the backlog of work and in some initial requirements gathering / use case vetting, but I would like to be able to hand off a project to this technical resource for them to take it from a good idea on paper to an implemented process.Candidate requirements/preferences:Good communication skillsNeeds to be able to interface both technical with internal team and functionally with stakeholdersNeeds to be able to create clear documentation on implemented solutionsStrong technical experience with AnsibleLooking for at least several years of experienceWould be great to get an idea of what previous projects they’ve implementedStrong problem solving, troubleshooting, and researching skillsWe have a small team – we can provide some support, but self-guided learning where necessary is expectedSome sort of Linux system administrator background/experienceAs discussed, many of our current use cases are at the OS and DB level so experience in these areas is desiredBusiness analyst mindsetAsking the right questions up front to get requirements from stakeholdersGenerating a functional description of the project goalGit version controlWe currently use GitLab – experience preferred but not required so long as they are comfortable with Git version controlPowerShell experience not required but appreciatedWould prefer a resource able to work EST business hours if possible but can be flexible so long as there’s sufficient daily overlap so we’re staying well connectedFor reference, we have a single environment for GitLab and 2 Ansible Automation Platform environments (one for development/QA and one for production).
