ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITESAs a Software Developer with Vanguard Integrity Professionals, you will perform moderately complex product design, systems analysis and programming activities that may require extensive research. Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. You will be part of a cross-disciplinary, team of developers and researchers whose mission is to advance the state of the art in Vanguard compilation and optimization to enhance the capabilities and performance of current Vanguard systems.Development of z/OS ISPF applications, system exits, and/or started tasks.Lead requirements definition, design, and implementation of major new software features.Support existing product functionality throughout Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).Test functionality across operating systems (i.e. Windows, Sun, HP, AIX, SUSE, z/OS, IBM iSeries)Support and participate in peer review process with coworkers.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent knowledge and work experience on designing and developing complex software applications.z/OS internals.COBOL, REXX, JCL.Proficient with Azure DevOps (not required).Must be able to come up to speed on new applications and technology in a very short amount of time.Must be detail oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Must be able to plan and execute work both independently and as a team member.Ability to prioritize and manage several tasks as once.Experience with security software systems development is preferred.Experience working in open source software development.Experience in compiler and language design.Experience with collaborative software development (e.g. design docs, code reviews, using prototypes to inform development choices)Solid understanding of Networking and Network Protocols. Client/Server architecture. HTTP/HTTPS. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications and Education RequirementsMinimum of 10 Years of direct work experience on software development with COBOL.5+ years of experience in software implementations.BS in Computer Science or equivalent work/education experience preferable.
