Back End Developer

Overview:AMAKA is pioneering a new era in social media and creator platforms, empowering Pan-African Creators worldwide. We are in search of a talented Back End Developer to drive the development and optimization of our platform's server-side logic and database architecture. The ideal candidate will possess strong programming skills, a deep understanding of backend technologies, and a passion for building scalable, efficient, and secure systems.

Responsibilities:Server-side Development:Design, develop, and maintain server-side logic and APIs to support the functionality and scalability of the AMAKA platform.Implement efficient algorithms and data structures to optimize system performance and response times.

Database Management:Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and indexing strategies to ensure data integrity, reliability, and performance.Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, identifying and implementing solutions to improve efficiency and scalability.

Security and Compliance:Implement security best practices to protect user data and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential security risks.

Integration and Scalability:Integrate third-party services and APIs to enhance platform functionality and user experience.Architect scalable and resilient backend systems to accommodate growing user demand and evolving business requirements.

Testing and Quality Assurance:Write unit tests and integration tests to ensure the reliability and correctness of backend code.Collaborate with quality assurance engineers to identify and resolve defects in a timely manner.

Documentation and Collaboration:Document technical designs, system architecture, and API specifications to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing.Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including front end developers, designers, and product managers, to ensure alignment on technical requirements and priorities.

Qualifications:Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in backend development, with a focus on building scalable web applications.Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).Programming Languages: Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Node.js, Ruby, or Java.Database Technologies: Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar.Security Knowledge: Familiarity with security principles, protocols, and best practices, including encryption, authentication, and authorization.Remote Work Experience: Proven ability to excel in a remote work environment, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
