🚀 Experienced Database Specialist Needed! 🌟

🔍 Project Overview:We're seeking an experienced Database Specialist with expertise in PostgreSQL, Python, Rest APIs, and ETL for a 1–2-month project. We need to transition a series of reporting views (currently in Excel) into SQL queries against our existing database. A detailed RFP can be provided upon request for your consideration.

🌟 About Us:We are a pre-seed startup that works closely together and communicates via Slack and Google Meet. Close collaboration is required for this work.

Example Reporting View:Company Capital Expenditure and depreciation for a 5-year forecast by month, grouped by project+department+scenario, from a source table of all budget expenses where each row represents one month of a particular expense. For one year of expenses, there will be 12 columns to represent that. We do have some of these tables already, but others will need to be created. If new additional tables would help with performance and/or overall design, we are open to suggestions.

📜 Qualifications:Proven experience with PostgreSQL database design, modeling, and querying.Familiarity with Excel data structures and their translation to SQL.Ability to optimize database queries for performance.Proficiency in Python.Experience with Rest APIs.

📝 Job Description:We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Engineer specialized in the finance domain to join our team. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines and systems that support our financial data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in SQL, Python programming, and extensive experience working with financial data.

📋 Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, transform, and load financial data into our systems.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into technical solutions.Optimize and tune SQL queries and database performance for large-scale datasets in PostgreSQL.Develop and implement data quality checks and monitoring processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of financial data.Design and implement data models and schema designs for financial data storage and retrieval.Build and maintain data documentation, including data dictionaries, metadata, and data lineage.Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data engineering and finance.

📌 Requirements:Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field.Proven experience as a Data Engineer, preferably in the finance domain.Strong proficiency in SQL with experience in PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems.Proficiency in Python programming for data manipulation, automation, and scripting tasks.Solid understanding of data modeling concepts and database design principles.Experience with ETL tools and frameworks, such as dbt, Talend, or similar.Familiarity with financial concepts, instruments, and markets.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
