About the positionThis role is part of the Secure Gateway Services (SGS) team in the Computing Services Division (CSD). This team handles the security infrastructure for the entire state, which includes managing proxy servers, authentication systems, logging, monitoring, file transfers, and the internal certificate authority. The main focus of SGS is SecureAccess Washington, which lets people access state services online. This includes paying taxes, applying for unemployment benefits, accessing social service benefits, and getting law enforcement data. The team ensures secure access to these essential services for the people and businesses of Washington. As a SecureAccess WA UI Developer, you will be relied on to enhance the User Interface for resident users of SecureAccess Washington. In this role you will perform analysis of business problems in a wide variety of security technologies to provide strategic vision to guide integrations of new technology to legacy systems.
DutiesSome of what to expect with this role:Review changes to industry standards for equity and accessibility in software design and web applications. Then implements changes to enhance usability for clients. Host demonstrations allowing internal and external stakeholders to visualize the final product and test specific features or functionalities to ensure they meet the desired objectives.Ensure users have control over the interface to navigate, customize, and adjust settings according to their preferences. Create a friendly and helpful design, and continuously work to implement new features while also working to reduce frustration and confusion.Create proof of concept applications (mock-ups) to demonstrate proposed solutions. This describes the implementation of new software, platforms, or tools to meet the demands of residents using our platform.Interpret customer and internal and external Quality Assurance (QA) business requirements for enhancements to SAW’s User Interface (UI). Create new user interfaces (CSS, HTML, JavaScript) for internal and external feedback, testing, and Quality Assurance.Review industry trends, technology developments, best practices, and security standards such as OWASP/NIST to avoid mistakes that could lead to vulnerabilities on SAW’s UI (Cross-site scripting (XSS), cross site request forgery (CSRF) attacks, clickjacking attacks, and third-party assets’ security risks).Provide initial verification of and advise internal QA planners on how to thoroughly verify that changes to UI design accommodate low vision and keyboard-only users by applying appropriate contrast and following accessibility standards for screen readers such as JAWS. Provide initial verification and advise internal QA plan on how to thoroughly verify that all paths and routes within the design are appropriately translated to Spanish, including errors, help content, and any other content provided to the end user. Here’s what we’re looking for:Nine years of Web Development experience. This must include hands on working experience with the following: Four years' experience in web development, with a focus on user interface design. Four years' experience with Python, bash scripting, and Linux. Four years' experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Two years' experience in implementing web applications using JSP. Formal education or completion of an accredited certificate program may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four years of the required experienceMust possess and maintain or be able to acquire and maintain within six months of employment a Linux+ certification.
Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:Two years' experience developing with SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, or other similar federated identity provider implementations.Two years' experience with a large, high volume 24x7 customer or service provider network, providing an enterprise class service.Demonstrated experience implementing web interfaces that support screen readers such as JAWS.Experience with responsive web design.Prior experience integrating with operation of SIEM with high traffic web applications.
