Senior Java Developer (No C2C, W2 only)

Title: Sr. Java DeveloperLocation: This role can be fully remote, however, there is a preference for someone based in the greater Seattle area to go onsite for meetings occasionally.Type of placement: Contract (40 hours per week)Duration: The initial duration is 6 months, but it will likely extend continuouslyTarget Start Date: Early JuneWork Schedule: Normal business hours, Monday – Friday, 9am - 5pm Pay Rate: $70-75/hr on W2 with benefits

Responsibilities:

1. Technical Leadership:Guide architectural decisions, ensuring they align with best practices and project requirements.Stay updated with emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools, and evaluate their potential application in projects.Act as a subject matter expert in specific technologies or domains.

2. Software Development:Design and develop complex software solutions, including system architecture, components, and interfaces.Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and design patterns.Implement unit tests and integration tests to ensure the reliability and robustness of the software.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and QA engineers, to deliver high-quality software products.Troubleshoot and debug issues, providing timely resolutions to ensure smooth project progress.Optimize application performance and scalability through code refactoring and performance tuning.

3. API Development and Integration:Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs for seamless integration with other systems and services.Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms for API security.Ensure API documentation is comprehensive, accurate, and up to date, using tools like Swagger or OpenAPI.Collaborate with frontend developers to design API endpoints that meet application requirements.Implement API versioning strategies to ensure backward compatibility and smooth upgrades.Monitor API performance and usage metrics, optimizing as necessary for scalability and efficiency.

4. Project Management:Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.Estimate development efforts accurately and provide input for project planning and resource allocation.Monitor project progress and proactively identify and address potential risks and issues.Coordinate with other team members to ensure timely delivery of features and milestones.Participate in Agile or other project management methodologies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

5. Communication and Collaboration:Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and clients to gather requirements, provide updates, and address concerns.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous learning.Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating technical concepts into understandable language.

6. Continuous Improvement:Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the development workflow.Advocate for the adoption of best practices, tools, and technologies to improve team productivity and software quality.Provide constructive feedback and participate in performance evaluations of team members.Invest in personal and professional development, staying updated with industry trends and acquiring new skills.

Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.Extensive experience in software development (5+ years) with demonstrated progression in responsibilities.Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, including Java, Kotlin, Groovy, and experience with JSON.Knowledge of IDE systems such as IntelliJ IDEA, Visual Studio Code, etc.Experience with relational databases like MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc.Familiarity with Linux and command-line interface (CLI) for development and deployment tasks.Core experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or similar, including knowledge of cloud services and deployment practices.These qualifications, in addition to the listed responsibilities, equip a senior developer with the necessary skills and expertise to excel in software development projects, particularly with a focus on the specified technologies and environments.

Compensation:The estimated pay range for this position is USD $70.00/hr - $75.00/hr and is an Exempt role.Exact compensation and offers of employment are dependent on circumstances of each case and will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, licenses or certifications, and location.
