Position Description: The Senior Java Developer works on a cross-functional scrum team utilizing the Agile methodology to develop enhancements for browser-based web and web service applications.
Minimum/General Experience: 5 years of experience as a Java Developer
Minimum Education: Bachelors' Degree in computer science or related field
Essential Skills/Qualifications
Above average experience developing applications using full-stack Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) technologies (e.g., browser-based web applications, Spring Boot web applications, RESTful/SOAP based web services)Above average experience developing features and bug fixes using Java 8 Software Development Kit (SDK)Above average experience with interactive debugging of enterprise application features for root cause analysis Experience with Java Frameworks (e.g., Spring, Spring Model View Controller (MVC), Hibernate Object Relational Mapping (ORM), Java Server Pages (JSP))Experience with basic Red Hat Enterprise Linux command line operations (e.g., navigating file system, running scripts, viewing log files) Experience with basic Application Server operations (e.g., start/stop application server, deploy/un-deploy ear file) Experience using Eclipse as an integrated development environment (IDE)Experience with Git Source Control Experience with Maven Experience with basic Jenkins build server operations (e.g., initiate build, check status of build, download build for deployment) Experience with HTML5 Experience with JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Dojo.js framework)Experience participating in design discussions with technical team leaders Experience with contributing individually to an Agile Scrum TeamExperience maintaining status of work using JIRA activitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) (preferred) Experience developing applications for WebLogic Application Server (preferred)Ability to support development on multiple applications simultaneously (preferred)Experience debugging RESTful/SOAP web services using SoapUI (preferred)Experience writing and debugging SQL queries for Oracle Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) (preferred)Experience assisting with technical requirement elaboration with business stakeholders (preferred)Experience resolving code-level security vulnerabilities using Fortify static code analyzer (preferred)Experience with library upgrades for J2EE applications to maintain compliance (e.g., Upgrade Spring, Hibernate, Log4j) (preferred)Experience in the pharmacy or healthcare domain (preferred)

Tasks/activities Include, But Are Not Limited To
Writes Java code to implement features and addresses bugsPerforms developer unit testing to ensure functionality meets requirementsParticipates in peer code reviewsWorks with Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Testers to process bug reports and communicate bug fixesCollaborates with senior technical leads on solution designParticipates in daily scrum calls to report status, identify obstacles, and collaborate on solutionsParticipates in sprint planning activities to estimate work required to meet objectivesAssists technical writers in obtaining technical information needed for competency development, past performance, and proposals Provides and reviews needed documentation changes Analyzes technical issues Participates as a member of the development support team Collaborates with other internal and external groups Leads and provides mentoring and guidance to less senior developers
