Our client is seeking a highly experienced Ruby on Rails Backend Developer to join their team for an exciting project in the retail sector. The primary focus of the project is to develop a sophisticated application that simplifies and optimizes product placement and task management in a supermarket environment. This involves transforming complex manual processes into an intuitive, app-based solution, akin to a fancy to-do list with advanced features.

Key ResponsibilitiesUtilize extensive experience in Ruby on Rails to build and maintain robust backend systems.Design and implement RESTful APIs to ensure seamless integration with various components of the application.Develop features that leverage machine learning to analyse and process visual data without directly viewing images, identifying key elements and actions.Create a user-friendly interface where employees can manage tasks by checking off items or using photo recognition.Implement a system that facilitates the relocation of products within the store, ensuring optimal placement and visibility.Integrate tools to provide real-time recommendations on product placement based on dynamic data and supermarket bidding systems.

Project DetailsDuration: 3-6 weeks, with potential for extension.Start Date: Estimated 4-6 weeks from now.Commitment: Minimum of 30 hours per week.Team Collaboration: Work closely with a team of developers and other stakeholders, including 30 employees from a major retail chain.Flexibility: The project allows for a significant degree of flexibility regarding budget and working arrangements.

RequirementsExperience: At least 8 years of experience with Ruby on Rails, with a strong portfolio demonstrating senior-level expertise.API Development: Proficiency in developing and integrating RESTful APIs.Machine Learning Knowledge: Familiarity with machine learning concepts and their application in backend development.Language Skills: Proficiency in German is a plus, but not mandatory.Location: Preference for candidates located in the EU, with consideration for time zone compatibility.Availability: Immediate availability is preferred.
