They are building a cutting-edge bill-pay platform for the 2020s and beyond and are looking for a driven Senior Backend Engineer to join their team. About My ClientThe world of consumer bills has rapidly transformed and become more complex, largely due to the widespread adoption of Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) options like Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm. This has resulted in consumers juggling numerous additional payments each month on top of their regular bills, utilities, and subscriptions. Consequently, tens of millions of Americans struggle financially, often missing payments, incurring fees and penalties, and harming their credit scores. My client identified a critical gap between the current landscape of consumer bills and the tools available to manage them effectively. Over the past three years, they developed a one-stop solution where consumers can manage, pay, and build credit with their bills, subscriptions, and BNPL payments. Since their launch, they’ve quickly become the go-to bill-pay method for their users, processing over $1.5M in transactions each month. What Sets My Client ApartThey were the first company to automate bank fee negotiation.They uniquely integrate BNPL loan schedules into monthly budgets alongside recurring bills, utilities, and subscriptions.They built an innovative calendar sync that automatically streams due dates and bill statuses to the user’s favorite calendar.They utilize unique data sources to provide a holistic, forward-looking view of consumers’ finances, going beyond the status quo of historical transaction data. The RoleAs a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be at the forefront of my client's culture of innovation. You'll work on creating valuable data sets and products that have never been offered before, using LLMs and other ML models to structure and derive insights from messy, unstructured data. Your work will empower consumers with unprecedented insights into their finances. Your Background A college degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or Physics5+ years of full-time Software Engineering experience after getting your undergraduate degreeExperience with Python (experience with Django is a plus)Experience with relational databases and SQLExperience deploying and scaling applications on AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etcExperience with web technologies: Javascript and CSS.
