Job Description

Design, develop, fix and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.

We are a distributed, work-from-home team with colleagues all over the world. This is a fully remote position.

Key Qualifications

Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Engineering or related field. Confirmed experience developing C++ software Solid understanding of operating systems fundamentals including memory management, process and thread management etc. Ability to debug and optimize performance-critical code and solve issues at the system level. Speed analyzing/understanding existing code. Speed producing clean code.

Valued Qualifications

MySQL or other database experience. (Usage/Development). Experience with Python development would be considered as a plus. Experience with parallel computing and development. Experience with performance profiling and tuning tools for identifying bottlenecks and improving system performance. Knowledge of distributed systems. (Knowledge/Development: consistency, availability, etc...). Experience with the POSIX standards and/or the Windows API (Development). Knowledge of TCP/IP and other transport layer protocols.

Responsibilities

We're a fast paced, highly skilled team responsible for building MySQL Shell, MySQL's advanced command line interface tool that implements:

A management framework for the MySQL Server and High-Availability solutions

Data migration tool to get MySQL databases into the Cloud

Advanced utilities that DBAs in the top companies around the world rely on for their day-to-day work.

APIs to allow doing the above operations either using Python or JavaScript

As a member of our team, you will participate in design and development activities to continue making the MySQL Shell the number one interface for the MySQL products.

Canada: Hiring Range from $88,100 - $192,000 CAD per year

US: Hiring Range: from $96,800 - $251,600 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
