Principal Software Developer - Cloud & Kubernetes Networking

Job Description

Our team at Oracle is building a cloud-native platform for internally developed SaaS applications that operate at a large scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. We focus on transforming how Software Developers and DevOps engineers build cloud applications for enterprise customers using Oracle technologies.

You will be a senior member of a team of intelligent, motivated, and diverse people and given the autonomy and support to do your best work. Responsibilities will include:

Ownership of the architecture for the traffic flow and associated components within and between the platform and data planeTo act as an escalation point for on-call issues related to traffic flow and its associated componentsTo act as an escalation point for Solutions Engineering to help customers architect OCI networking and Kubernetes cluster networking solutions to meet their business needsTo build, package, configure and manage the lifecycle of components associated with managing network traffic flow such as Istio, Calico, and Kubernetes network security policiesOwnership of the private PKI tree used between the platform and data plane

Desired Qualifications:

7+ years of experience in software development / site reliability engineering with some networking experienceSelf-driven, able to take ownership of the complex features, and support other engineers to deliver results on timeStrong communication skills, including cross-team collaboration Experience with modern software engineering design approaches, micro-service architecture, and understanding object oriented designExperience managing Service Meshs on Kubernetes deployments (e.g. Istio, LinkerD, etc.)Experience managing CNI's on Kubernetes deployments (e.g. Calico, Cilium, Flannel, etc.)Experience with designing solutions using cloud networking constructs (VPCs, Nat GW, Site to Site VPN, VPC Peering, etc.)Experience with the Linux networking stack and tooling (iptables/nftables, iproute2, tcpdump, virtual interfaces, etc.)Experience with container-based deployment (Kubernetes, Docker)Experience with source control (BitBucket, GIT, Maven, SVN)Experience with continuous deployment tools (e.g., Teamcity, Jenkins)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native app developmentUnderstanding of the Infrastructure-as-Code technologies, such as Terraform or CloudFormationAbility to design and implement distributed high available cloud servicesAbility to evaluate and pick up new languages and technologiesExperience with Agile methodologiesStrong desire to stay on top of new technologies and services

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for all stages of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to coding, testing, CI/CD, and operational support. We own our applications - we deploy and operate them, and we see them used daily by our customers.

Ideal candidates will have in-depth experience building, delivering, and operating cloud-native, highly available, distributed, and secure systems across multiple regions.

Our team is primarily remote and spread across the US, India, and Europe. Still, we are closely connected, practicing the Agile approach and leveraging Slack and Zoom for day-to-day communication.

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 - $223,500 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
