Senior Backend Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer role in our product's development and level up our backend engineering practices. You'll be the technical backbone of our team, directly impacting our customers' experience. Your responsibilities will include owning the complex backend, hands-on coding with Node (hosted on AWS), system design and architecting solutions. You'll ensure our platform remains efficient, scalable, and reliable as we scale and move fast.

Your Team

You will be working within a small yet collaborative team, who care about each other and are always willing to help. There will be opportunities to work on a wide range of problems, which are always exciting and challenging and will be a part of building products that really saves people’s lives. In this role you will be reporting to the VP Engineering and working very closely with our IC/Staff Engineer.

Requirements

Ideally, has startup experience, having developed the muscle to take extreme ownership of the results, leaving a lasting impact in the business.Typically, at least 5-6 years of relevant experienceNode.js, significant experience designing and building Node services, proficiency in JavaScript, and AWS, with a strong understanding of building secure applications.Strong proficiency in AWS services such as ECR, EKS, CloudWatch, S3, etc.Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is strongly considered.A paver of CI/CD pipelines and automation building blocks - Experience with CI/CD tooling and procedures (ideally using GitLab, AWS services)Great understanding and strong experience working with MongoDB & RabbitMQA team player who thrives in a remote, collaborative environment with strong communication skills.A solutions-oriented individual comfortable with the fast pace of startup life.Strong track record of at least 2 years of experience in practicing SCRUM framework, collaborating with scrum master, PO, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Architectural Design and Guidance:

Lead the design and development of scalable architecture to ensure efficient performance and reliability of web and mobile applications.Make informed architectural decisions that align with both current and future business needs.Make sure the security and privacy are well considered and taken care of when choosing solutions and coding the back-end services and API endpoints.

Code Quality Assurance:

Uphold high standards of code quality through regular reviews, maintaining best practices in programming, and implementing robust testing strategies.

Developer & Problem Solver First

Design, develop, and deploy backend services and APIs using Node.js and AWS technologies.Effective NoSQL (ideally MongoDB) schema design and data modeling, and design robust indexing strategies.Monitor and control technical debt, ensuring that it does not compromise the scalability or performance of the application.

Task Management and Delegation:

Collaborate with the Product Owner (PO) to plan and delegate tasks efficiently among backend team members, ensuring clear objectives and timelines.

Requirements Analysis:

Support the PO in identifying and analyzing user requirements to ensure the development aligns with user expectations and project scope.Bring Systems thinking & align with broader business objectives.
