Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Power BI developer with extensive experience of being a core point of contact in the team for Data-driven initiatives, transforming complex datasets into actionable business intelligence, and creating impactful reports and dashboards that drive strategic decisions and business success.

Key technical skills required

Advanced areas in Power BI like Data Modelling, Power Query, and reports using Power BI Desktop.Power BI Desktop and Service, including data modeling, DAX, M Query, and Power Query.Expertise in connecting Data sources including SQL, Excel, Cloud Services, and ETL processesAdvanced SQL SkillsFamiliarity with Azure data services, such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics.Knowledge of Data Visualization best practicesKnowledge of data security practices, including implementing row-level security and role-based access.BI tools like Tableau, QlikView, or Looker can be advantageous.

Primary Responsibilities

Business Insights and Recommendations: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their analytical needs and provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis.Report and Dashboard Development: Develop complex, interactive Power BI reports and dashboards that meet business requirements, by utilizing advanced Power BI features and custom visuals to create tailored solutions.Data Modelling and DAX: Create and maintain robust data models to support efficient data processing and accurate reporting. Write and optimize DAX calculations and measures to meet analytical needs along with performance optimizationData Integration and ETL: Connect to various data sources, including SQL databases, Excel, cloud services (Azure, AWS), and APIs. Use Power Query to perform data transformations, cleansing, and preparation and implement ETL processes to ensure seamless data integration and preparation for reporting.User Interface Design: Focus on creating user-friendly interfaces that facilitate easy data exploration and analysis.Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications, and create POCs, and mock-ups as needed.User Training and Support: Provide training, support, and mentor end-users to promote effective use of Power BI tools and reports.Performance Tuning and Optimization: Optimize SQL queries and DAX formulas to improve data retrieval times along with implementing best practices for data management, including data refresh schedules, partitioning, and indexing.Project Coordination: Manage multiple BI projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.Communication: Effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders.Compliance: Ensure all BI solutions comply with data governance policies and industry regulations.

Mandatory / MOST IMPORTANT Pre-requisites

A minimum of 8+ Years of experience as a Senior/lead Power BI Developer with hands-on experience in Power BI development, data analysis, or a related role.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is preferred.Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments for iterative development and delivery.Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate tasks, and ensure timely delivery of BI solutions.Ability to identify opportunities to leverage new Power BI features and technologies to enhance reporting capabilities.Familiarity with DevOps practices & methodologiesDeep understanding of Power BI Service, including workspace management, dataflows, and gateway configurations.Commitment to staying updated with the latest Power BI features, updates, and best practices.Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure or AWS for data storage and processing.Strong knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance.Ability to work independently, without local supervision, and to demonstrate self-management and seniority and mentor team and end-users effectively.

Desirable
