Senior Developer - ASP to Azure Migration

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Developer with expertise in legacy ASP, Java, Azure, and SQL to assist with the migration of our old ASP website to Microsoft Azure. The current website, built using ASP (version 1, pre-ASP.NET) and Java, is experiencing difficulties in upgrading its SQL database to a version higher than 2016. This project involves both the migration of the website and the upgrade of the SQL database to a more recent version.

Key Responsibilities:

Website Migration:Plan and execute the migration of the legacy ASP website to Microsoft Azure.Ensure the migrated website operates seamlessly on the Azure platform.Address any compatibility issues that arise during the migration process.Optimize the website for performance and security in the Azure environment.

SQL Database Upgrade:Assess the current SQL database and develop a strategy for upgrading to a version higher than SQL Server 2016.Execute the SQL database upgrade, ensuring data integrity and application compatibility.Resolve any issues related to database performance, compatibility, and integration post-upgrade.Collaboration and Documentation:

Work closely with internal teams to understand the specific requirements and constraints of the migration and upgrade.Document the migration process, challenges, and solutions for future reference.Provide technical support and troubleshooting during and after the migration.

Required Skills and Qualifications:Proven experience in ASP (version 1, pre-ASP.NET): Extensive knowledge of legacy ASP technologies and their limitations.Java Expertise: Strong skills in Java for handling any related components and integration issues.Azure Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Azure, including its services, architecture, and best practices for migration.SQL Knowledge: Demonstrated ability to upgrade SQL databases, particularly SQL Server 2016 and later versions.Technical Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues related to website migration and database upgrades.Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and collaboration with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:Certifications: Azure certification or relevant certifications in SQL and web development.Experience with Migration Tools: Familiarity with tools and methodologies for website and database migration to cloud platforms.
