The Role:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Back-end Developer to join our dynamic team. As a Back-end Developer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the development and maintenance of robust, efficient, and scalable back-end systems. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, a commitment to industry best practices, and a passion for contributing to impactful public sector projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Adherence to Public Sector/GDS Standards:Demonstrate a solid understanding and adherence to Public Sector and GDS standards in all development activities.

Technical Proficiency:Showcase expertise in AWS and back-end development.Possess knowledge of either the JVM ecosystem or the JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js ecosystem.

Cloud-Based Web Applications:Exhibit familiarity with technologies essential for cloud-based web applications, including databases, backups, CDNs, containerization, and serverless computing.

Software Design:Apply software design principles effectively to contribute to the creation of robust and scalable solutions.

Modern Software Development Practices:Demonstrate proven experience in modern software development approaches, encompassing automated testing, test-driven development, continuous integration, pair programming, code review, and version control.

Leadership and Mentorship:Contribute to team growth by providing management support, assisting colleagues with career development, and coaching junior staff members.

Web Security Awareness:Possess an understanding of common web security risks such as OWASP Top 10 and apply corresponding mitigations.

Continuous Learning:Display enthusiasm for researching and adopting new programming tools and techniques.Share acquired skills and knowledge with team members.

Collaborative Environment:Thrive in a collaborative work environment and embrace agile and multi-disciplinary approaches for project execution.

Qualifications and Experience:

Proven experience as a Back-end Developer.Strong understanding of public sector/GDS standards.Proficiency in AWS and back-end development within either the JVM ecosystem or the JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js ecosystem.Familiarity with cloud-based web application technologies.Knowledge of software design principles and modern development practices.Leadership experience and a willingness to support team growth.Awareness of web security risks and corresponding mitigations.Passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.Experience working collaboratively in an agile environment.
