Infrastructure Developer

Hydrolix seeks a Python Developer with experience in infrastructure as code (IaC) to continually reduce the human effort required to deploy, configure and maintain the Hydrolix product. This position also involves integrating Hydrolix as a system, including third-party and open-source/free software. A successful candidate will likely have had titles in the past like DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer or Software Engineer.

Key ResponsibilitiesEnhance the Hydrolix Kubernetes operator. The operator, implemented in Python, is responsible for the dynamic deployment, configuration, and integration of the dozens of Kubernetes resources that comprise a Hydrolix cluster.Enhance the Hydrolix Pulumi/Python codebase. This codebase deploys and configures cloud resources, Hydrolix itself, and the Kubernetes resources it depends on.Serve as an escalation point for Hydrolix Site Reliability Engineers to troubleshoot Hydrolix in production. Serve as a subject-matter expert on Kubernetes, cloud providers, networking, Postgres, Linux and infrastructure topics.

Qualifications and SkillsAbility to develop within a complex Python codebase.Extensive experience in software development in any of Python, Go, Rust, Java, Scheme or another modern programming language.Solid infrastructure knowledge, especially in the cloud and with development against cloud API's. Linode, AWS, Azure and GCP are clouds of particular interest.Experience with Kubernetes, its resources and their configuration and with development against the Kubernetes API.A proven ability to work with an infrastructure-as-code framework such as Pulumi or Terraform and with GitOps.Strong written and verbal communication skills.A baccalaureate degree or equivalent in a technical field.Preferably, 7-10 years of relevant experience.
