What You'll Do:🔧 Enhance Software: Design, develop, implement, and test software systems to meet business requirements and software development standards.🤝 Collaborate and Resolve: Work with various teams to investigate and resolve application issues.🔍 Error Handling: Make necessary changes to correct errors and ensure desired results.🚀 Optimize Programs: Revise, repair, or expand programs to boost efficiency or adapt to new needs.📝 Documenting: Provide top-notch technical and design documentation.👩‍🏫 Mentor Junior Developers: Assist in the development of technical expertise in less experienced developers.📊 Project Reporting: Contribute to project progress reports and comply with governance processes.🌐 Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain key internal and external relationships to achieve agency goals.🧠 Decision Making: Make informed decisions using expertise and governed by best practices and relevant procedures.🗳️ Election Readiness: Participate in election preparation and delivery activities according to the election readiness framework.🔄 Additional Duties: Perform other duties as directed.About the Team:The CIOD Division within the AEC's Enterprise Transformation Group (ETG) is responsible for delivering robust ICT functions and capabilities, maintaining election-ready systems, and driving an ambitious ICT transformation and modernization agenda. You'll be involved in projects such as the Modern Workplace Program, Cloud Technology Project, Polling Place Technology Project, and the Election Systems Modernization Program (Indigo Program).

Experience and Skills:Mandatory Criteria:

💻 Proven ability to develop and maintain high-quality, scalable enterprise-level software solutions using Java and Java EE.🕒 Strong skills in setting priorities and delivering quality results on time and on budget.📡 Effective communication skills with the ability to anticipate stakeholder needs across a dispersed network.🧩 Excellent analytical abilities to propose and facilitate change and contribute to business improvement strategies.🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Ability to manage staff, encourage career development, and promote professionalism.🛡️ Demonstrated personal integrity while achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.Desirable Criteria:

🎓 Relevant qualifications in information technology.🇦🇺 Knowledge or the ability to quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.📚 Familiarity with Commonwealth frameworks, including ICT frameworks.Additional Information:✈️ Applicants outside Canberra must be willing to travel to Canberra for operational reasons (1-2 times per quarter).📍 Preferred location: Canberra or Brisbane, with hybrid working arrangements considered.🌍 Remote working will be accepted where AEC accommodation is not available.🔒 Must hold (or be able to obtain) minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 AGSVA Clearance.
