About the position: The Senior BI Developer role is crucial for driving data-driven decision-making within our growing retail organization. As a Senior BI Developer, you will be responsible for leading projects including the design, development, and maintaining business intelligence solutions that empower our business stakeholders to make informed decisions.

Responsible for:Leading solution design and requirements gatheringCollaborating with business stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into effective BI solutions. Understanding and translating those requirements to more junior members of the teamDesigning, developing, and maintaining BI reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using various BI tools and platforms. Responsible for setting best practice in these areas and coaching junior members.Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data by performing data quality checks, troubleshooting data issues, and resolving discrepancies. Supporting other teams to ensure their data quality is visible and easily monitoredAnalyzing and interpreting complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights. Leading edge insights to deliver to the business to move the needle in the relevant area of focusProviding end-user training and support on BI tools and solutions to ensure successful adoption and usage and upskilling junior members of the team to a mid weight level.Continuously evaluating and improving BI processes and solutions to meet evolving business needs. Leading team meetings to drive continuous change and deliver feedback in to the wider data team.

Accountable for:Timely and accurate delivery of BI reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to meet business requirements.The robustness and quality of the organizations “Gold” and “Semantic” data layersEnsuring data quality and integrity in BI solutions of themselves and more junior members of the teamCompliance with data privacy and security standards. Helping to understand and define how these impact the companyEnhancing the organization's overall data-driven decision-making capabilities

Essential skills and experience:Minimum of 5 years of experience in BI development, preferably within the retail industryStrong proficiency in SQL and data modelling conceptsStrong Experience working with BI tools such as Looker, Power BI or TableauDemonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization at all levels (technical / non-technical) as well as external partnersDemonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex data setsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (Data Engineering to the Business)Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex non-technical concepts to technical stakeholders (the Business to Data Engineering)Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detailExcellent stakeholder managementAbility to coach junior members of the team

Preferred skills and experience:Experience with the Google Cloud Stack (BigQuery, Dataform etc)Experience with LookerExperience working with CI/CD pipelines through GithubExperience working in a large data transformation / migrationExperience with retail-specific data sources, such as point-of-sale systems, inventory management systems, and customer relationship management systemsFamiliarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processesExperience with data visualization best practices and design principlesKnowledge of advanced analytics techniques, such as predictive modeling and machine learningExposure to cloud-based data storage and processing platforms, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
