Junior Software Developer - Short Term / Temp - Remote

Riptide Technology is hiring a surge Junior Software Developer for short - term remote work. On occasion visits to Washington DC or O'Fallon, Illinois is required. The support of the Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) capabilities of the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) Nimitz Operational Intelligence Command (OIC). This role provides IT support services to ONI OIC to include tier 1 through 3 on-call support, planning and scheduling, customer/user support, systems engineering and technical assessments, software engineering, system administration and operation, database administration and development, system/software testing and break-fix support. The Junior Software Developer must have web frontend development and experience with JavaScript and Python. Further support includes migration of MDA capabilities to the cloud, and the application of artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) tools to existing MDA data sets. Responsibilities:

Design, develop, implement, and maintain software applicationsSoftware applications include government off-the-shelf (GOTS), modified off-the-shelf (MOTS), and commercial off- the-shelf (COTS) that are used on both unclassified as well as classified ONI systems Development may include research, new development, modification, reuse, reengineering, maintenance, or any other activities that result in software products to meet the needs of specific client/business requirements of ONIUtilize Java coding skills to maintain and sustain current capabilitiesDevelop and maintain source code in compliance with secure coding standards, application STIGS, and all applicable government regulations, guidance, and directions Provide application development support within the Development TeamTroubleshoot application deploymentAttending and contributing to company development meetingsLearning the codebase and improving your coding skillsWriting and maintaining codeWorking on minor bug fixesMonitoring the technical performance of internal systemsResponding to requests from the development teamGathering information from consumers about program functionality Conducting development tests

Required Education and Certifications:

BS in Computer Science (Preferred) with 2+ years of recent related IT experience.

Required Qualifications:

Security Clearance: Active DoD - SecretExperience: 2+ years of experience web frontend developmentMust have experience with JavaScript and Python Background in DoD software development preferredExperience with Docker containers and REST APIs requiredExperience with Scrum project management methodologyCore Business hours 9:00 - 3:00 with flexibility
