About The Role

Cars Commerce builds solutions for automotive dealerships, manufacturers, and consumers. Our driving force is to deliver one platform to simplify everything about buying and selling cars. Our platform enables dealerships and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with innovative technical solutions and data-driven intelligence to better reach and influence ready-to-buy shoppers, increase inventory turn and gain market share. To support the growth and tighter integration of our existing brands like Cars.com, Dealer Inspire, and AccuTrade we are seeking a Leader for our expanding Core Services Platform.

We’re looking for a highly-motivated and enthusiastic leader for DevOps Engineering who will lead a team of skilled engineers who support our platform development teams. This role is pivotal to leading a key part of the broader Platform strategy. Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills. You should have hands-on leadership experience, and a strong belief in transparency and accountability. You have hands-on experience that has fueled your knowledge and experience on your journey into leadership. You have experience hiring and developing the skills and talents of others. You have led teams working in AWS to support the delivery of highly reliable and scalable services. Influencing DevOps best practices for the entire engineering organization is something that excites you. Ownership is a key characteristic you inspire your teams to ingrain in their culture.

Responsibilities

Lead a mission critical team supporting Core Services engineering teamsRaise the bar on technical excellence, show thought leadership, and communicate well to different audiencesOversee the management of a team of engineers to plan, design, and deliver complex systemsLead by example to establish a culture of technical expertise and operational accountabilityLead large projects and a cross-functional teamWork closely with business leaders to translate functional requirements into technical requirementsBe a champion of Developer Experience focusing teams on continuous improvementImplement and guide teams leveraging data driven metrics e.g. DORA Identify and prioritize technical initiatives to align and integrate with business goalsAdd transparency mechanisms for stakeholders into the priorities and activities of your team and larger organizationSolicit requirements from collaborators and foster excellent communication with stakeholdersHire, coach, and manage diverse teams with varying skill sets and experienceEstablish and enforce training standards and performance expectations for individual contributorsParticipate in on-call escalations as neededBe an ambassador of Cars Commerce's Core Values:Challenge & Collaborate; Start with the Consumer; Be Bold; Build Relationships, Deliver Results; Focus on the Outcome; Stay Open

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent practical experience required5+ years of technical experience at a senior level with 1-3+ years of people management experiencePrior experience designing and implementing continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment of software applicationsExperienced implementing security best practices into the development and deployment processExtensive experience working in Cloud Native environments, specifically AWSExperience with multi-account systems architecture and best practicesExtensive experience using modern observability tools (Cloudwatch, DataDog, etc) and establishing metrics, monitoring, alarming, and dashboards Experience with Infrastructure as Code, DevOps, SRE concepts and best practicesExperience implementing software delivery process such as Agile Hands-on experience with modern programming and/or scripting languages

Preferred Qualifications

Strong track record of delivering results and are able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities with various business stakeholdersExperience designing and setting operational metrics and reporting on said metricsExtensive experience managing change management practices, policies, and proceduresAbility to author documentation for all levels of stakeholdersExperience managing and establishing automated controls for 3rd party audits (SOX, SOC-II, etc)Previous examples of success establishing incident and security response processesPrevious experience leading incident response and resolutionAbility and willingness to manage ambiguity i.e., help shape solutions and prioritize deliverables to align with the Company’s vision

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position which is not inclusive of bonuses, benefits or other forms of compensation that the position may be eligible for. If you are hired at Cars Commerce, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills and/or experience. Salary Range

$131,400—$164,300 USD
