Assembler Mainframe Developer

Abstract Evolutions, a strategic IT Consulting firm in the Washington, DC metro area is hiring for an Assembler Mainframe Developer position with one of our Federal clients.

We are recruiting for a senior Assembler (ALC) Developer position for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Our company has been working with the agency for over 8 years and we have multiple contracts in place. This is a fully remote position on a 5-year contract that we are hiring for now.

In this role, you will work in an Agile team to support back-end mainframe systems and provide interfaces to front-end systems.

Expert knowledge of Assembler (ALC) language, 8 years of experience coding in Assembler is required.Must be able to pass a Federal Background Investigation for a Minimal Background Investigation (MBI) Public Trust Clearance.

Also, you must be able to develop Assembler mainframe applications (with databases and mainframe systems):

Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions.Analyze existing software as well as incoming business rules and conversion details, producing application requirements and detailed design documents.Working knowledge of mainframe tools including TSO, JCL, Control-MDevelop and manage well-functioning databases and applications.Write effective interfaces to system applications and services.Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software and assist in defect resolution.Staff resource skillsets should include:A minimum of 8** years of coding Assembler*Experience with mainframe TSO, JCL, Control-MHands-on experience with Linux, z/OS, bash shell scriptingHands on experience with JCL developmentAbility to perform code merging activities using source code control systemsPrior experience working on Agile teamsDemonstrated ability to seek out information (proactive learning)Ability to work both independently and as part of a larger teamExperience with legacy IRS Masterfile (IMF or BMF) and or CADE2 is a plusExperience with Ansible is a plusExposure to MongoDB is a plusUnderstanding and functioning knowledge of RQM is a plus

• Bachelor’s Degree or above preferred. More experience is required for non-degreed candidates.
