Job Title: Application Developer - IntermediateDuration: 6 months Location: Edmonton, AB (Resource will work remotely, though must be available for onsite meetings when required.)
Duties: Deliver applications programming and analysis tasks as part of a system development process as well as provide application support, maintenance and enhancements. An Application Developer applies a broad knowledge of various technical areas to foresee and rectify certain problem areas within technology or with a mix of technologies, but the focus is to ensure a certain business/functional use case is solved with the help of technology. • Liaises with business units and program areas to ensure solutions meet current and strategic ministry needs and requirements. • Write performing quality code to fulfill design, and pass code review with minimal number of defects. • Apply configuration on development environments when required. • Participate in implementing full product into production, and supports providing application versions and details for implementation plan. • Highlight the technical impacts of the functional design on existing applications based on a detailed analysis. • Deliver technical design and database structure for medium to high application complexity. • Maintain technical documentation. • Identify critical features of system, and focus testing effort on them. Ensure that the unit test covers the right proportion of the application. • Setup data for testing. • Grasp Able to quickly understand application functionalities and process. • Handle and fix production defects efficiently. • Provide tracking and reporting of time and status on all work as required. • Contribute to the creation of the Application Lifecycle Planning • Identify and coordinate release schedules • Identify service requests and priorities with customer • Ensure planned releases remain on schedule and on track QualificationMust HaveEducationThe proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following: • University graduation in computer science or a related discipline and 4-yr relevant experience; OR • 2-yr diploma in computer science or a related discipline and 6-yr relevant experience; OR • 1-yr certificate in computer science or a related discipline and 7-yr relevant experience; OR • a currently active professional certification or accreditation and 8-yr relevant experienceTechnical SkillsExperience developing any of the following: multi-user, n-tier, Object Oriented, Web Services, JSON REST API applications using C#, .NET, ASP.net or Visual Studio.Work ExperienceExperience and technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.Experience in application maintenance and development that include: writing, modifying, integrating, testing, and documenting software code.Experience in designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting applications in a controlled production environment.Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps ServerExperience with various software development methodologies (i.e. agile, waterfall, scrum, Kanban, etc.).Experience working in a Government development environment or in an environment equivalent in size and complexity to the Government of AlbertaNice to HaveSoft SkillsAbility to manage stress and conflict.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, management and vendors.The ability to learn quickly, problem solve/troubleshoot, work independently and in a team.Work ExperienceExperience and technical knowledge using ASP.NET MVC (Model View Controller).Experience developing and maintaining applications that use Oracle Database 19cExperience developing and maintaining web services, JSON REST API and Message queuing services using .NET C# servicesExperience using a version-controlling tool (Tortoise GIT, Tortoise SVN and Version Manager and MS Azure DevOps).
