The Role

SimplePractice is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expert knowledge in Ruby on Rails and heavy Backend experience to help us roll-out the multitude of features and service improvements we have planned.

As one of the first foundational hires in a brand new Mexico City location, you will play a pivotal role in helping us build a team of passionate software developers around you.

You are a passionate, talented engineer, willing to push the limits of existing technology and create the best possible user experienceYou work on the front-end and heavier emphasis on the backend to develop new features from start to finish, including design of architecture, coding, and testingYou are delighted by good design and bring that taste to your front-end workYou love building products that help thousands of customers in their day to day life

Responsibilities

Building out the next generation practice management platformWorking with our Eng Leadership and Talent teams to scale our new office in Mexico CityCollaborating with our Product team to help understand customer needs, troubleshoot potential problems and define upcoming featuresWrite clean, efficient well-tested code that improves our code base in meaningful waysHelp diagnose problems and architecting solutions

Desired Skills & Experience

You have 8+ years experience with Ruby on Rails developmentYou’re proficient in English, with strong communication & collaboration skillsYou have a degree in Computer Science, or a related technical fieldSolid experience in at least one modern JavaScript Framework specifically Ember.js or React.js and the ecosystem around those frameworksExperience in reporting and analyticsDesigned and implemented large, scalable web applications and have an appreciation for clean, elegant and simple codeExperience taking Rails apps from idea to shipped to productionUnderstands the value and nuances of Test Driven DevelopmentComfortable working with remote teams, using Pivotaltracker/Github/Slack/Hangouts to collaborate

You’re excited to take on a lead role in helping us scale a brand new software developer officeSolid understanding of web application security and best practicesWorking knowledge of managing MySQL/Postgres/Redis/NGINXConfident working with production environments to help troubleshoot problemsExperience with Linux, preferable CentOS/RHELInfrastructure management via ChefExperience with compliance standards PCI/HIPAA
