Lead Scala Developer
Location: 100%Remote
What you will be doing:
Participating in daily stand ups at 10:00am ETParticipating in weekly planning and refinement meetingsWorking on a team dedicated to our Elevance clientWorking on ETL transformation which includes gathering raw data and files from the client, transforming it into Availity's format and sending down the ETL pipeline for further processingWorking with a team of 3 engineersUtilizing JIRA for project planning and trackingCollaborating with the Product Owner on a regular basisInteracting with the end client on a daily basis via email, call or virtual meetingSolving healthcare problems and improving processesImplementing a backlog of items to fulfill a focused roadmapWorking on a team following Agile Scrum principlesIncorporating development best practicesEnsuring your code is efficient, optimized, and performantCollaborating on programming or development standardsMaintaining technical debt and applying security principlesReviewing the code of others while receiving feedback to ensure code qualityInnovating with ideas and products to the organizationPerforming unit testing and complex debugging to ensure qualityLearning new things & sharing your knowledge with others
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferably Computer Science, Engineering, or other quantitative fields4+ years of related experience in designing and implementing enterprise applications using big data2+ years of experience working with Java EE2+ years of experience working with large-scale data and developing SQL queries2+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, such as Apache Spark, with Scala, AWS EMR, Airflow, RedShift2+ years of experience with RESTFul APIs and web servicesExcellent communication skills including discussions of technical concepts, soft skills, conducting peer-programming sessions, and explaining development conceptsExperience with RedShift is a plusExperience with Airflow is a plusExperience with AWS is a plusExperience in the healthcare industry or another highly regulated field is a plus
