TEKsystems is seeking a WordPress SME / Guru for a large migration project with our client in San Diego. This is a fully remote opportunity and will take a few years to complete.
Overview / Big Picture
Our client is changing their websites from AEM to WordPress. This is a very large effort that is currently underway and will take a few years to fully complete because of the many different departments within the organization. They are currently building the broader platform and should be completed by the end of next month. The next step is to start building some of the mid tier platforms for each of the departments. Then there are even sub departments that have their own websites and content that is needed by the public.
They need a WordPress Developer / SME, who understands best practices, can help build these template, and upskill the rest of the team. This person should understand all the different plug-ins, how WordPress works with the CID pipeline, GitHub, Akamai, etc.
Job Description
We are looking for a WordPress Developer/ Platform SME who can take the client’s WordPress projects to the next level. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing WordPress websites. Development of templates, themes, design patterns, and plugins, with a strong focus on best practices in PHP. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement complex features, maintain high-performance standards, and ensure the stability of the WordPress platform. Experience with GitLab and CI/CD pipelines is a plus and will help you contribute to our streamlined development and deployment processes.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain WordPress themes, templates, and plugins. Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on the WordPress platform, providing guidance and recommendations to the team. Collaborate with designers, content creators, and other developers to create a seamless user experience. Optimize website performance, ensuring speed, scalability, and security best practices. Develop custom design patterns and reusable components for various WordPress projects. Integrate third-party APIs and tools to enhance site functionality. Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, bugs, and performance problems. Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality standards and best practices. Manage version control using GitLab, with experience in CI/CD pipelines being an advantage. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in WordPress development and implement best practices.
